Volunteer with Us
Mother
Theresa said “If you can’t feed a hundred people, than feed just one.”
Consider
volunteering at the Samaritan Shelter with a team of fellow parishioners.
Church
of the Assumption assists at the Samaritan Shelter for one week every 3 months
by serving breakfast and dinner to the guest of the shelter, Monday thru
Saturday and by preparing and serving the Sunday evening meal.
Overnight
volunteers are also needed.
Samaritan
Shelter is a 40 bed substance-free, emergency shelter operated by the
Manchester Area Council of Churches (MACC). They provide not only shelter but
social services for its guest with the goal of assisting them in developing a
plan of action to get back on their feet.
To
join the volunteer team or to obtain additional information, contact
Assumption’s Parish Coordinator, Catherine Pleckaitis at cpleck@sbcglobal.net or 860-657-8831.
Thank
you to our Volunteers who served during the week of January 11th.
Jim Dolan, Jerry Williams, John St. Peter,
John Foley, Geraldine and Emile Cyr, Tom and Rita Downes, Gary Champagne,
Vincent Pleckaitis. A special acknowledgement goes out to Adam Rowlan and James
Kibbe who participated each night of our week long commitment.
