Take Time to Pray

At this time of the year, weekends find us at the beach, nearby lake or backyard pool. We watch the children with swim rings, boogie boards, learning how to handle the water. They do not learn standing beside the pool or on the beach. They have to dive right in.

Prayer is no different. We learn to pray by praying. Surely we can learn different forms of prayer, as there are different ways of moving in the water. We can speak our prayer, sing our prayer, or silently meditate. It is the way we address our God. There are two key elements. We learn first that when we pray we are responding to an invitation God has already offered us. Secondly, we remember who it is we are in dialogue with in prayer. We speak, He listens. But don’t forget, every conversation allows the Other to speak, and we quietly listen.

Choose the form of prayer which best meets your need and your situation, but know that God always hears our prayer, for He knows us even before we begin. He wants us to recognize our need and our dependence upon Him.

                                           Rev. William J. Reilly

You’ve got to see what our School Principal, Miss Ouellette, is doing to help raise awareness and interest in Assumption School.

After Mass today look in the driveway between the Church and the School for a Big Yellow Pick-up Truck, there you will find Miss Ouellette with the brand new yard signs promoting Assumption School.

The signs are free to anyone willing to place one in their yard.

Why not help Miss Ouellette, take a sign home and place it in your front yard or wherever it will be most visible to anyone driving past your home.

Assumption School: Another way to help our Parish children is to save your bottles and cans to contribute to the monthly Bottle and Can Drive.

The Bottle and Can Drive is held monthly, except in December and is announced in the bulletin prior to each collection.

What could be easier than dropping off your cans and bottles for the children to redeem for cash to help defray the cost of their education?

If you can’t make the date provided, you can drop your cans and bottles off to the school anytime prior to the drive.

The next Bottle and Can Drive will be August 28th from 9:00 – 12:00, in parking lot behind the Church Hall.
