The Ladies Guild invites you to come and hear a lecture by Mike Darby,
the Judge for the Greater Manchester Probate Court, and one of our own
parishioners, entitled “How to Avoid Mike Darby”. Mr. Darby will share some
tips on how to make your estate simpler and minimize the need for probate. Monday, October 3rd at 8:00pm.
The Ladies Guild of the Church of the Assumption will be holding their
Annual bazaar on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 from 9:00am – 3:00pm
in the Church Hall.

On Monday, September 26th,
Archbishop Mansell
challenges each family to
eat a meal together and encourages families to continue this important
tradition!
ALL ARE INVITED! The most Reverend Henry J. Mansell, D.D., invites
you to attend the Archbishop’s Annual Columbus Day Breakfast on October 7th
at 7:30 am at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven. Proceeds from this breakfast
will benefit the Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic Schools to provide
scholarship grants for students attending the Catholic elementary schools in
the greater New Haven area. This lively event has become a favorite way to
begin the Columbus Day weekend and support Catholic education. The breakfast
features great food and entertainment by students from our Catholic schools.
Social Justice Leadership Training: The Office for Catholic Social Justice Ministry
presents Mobilizing People for Justice:
From Concern to Action. The workshop will be held on September 29,
7:00pm-9:00pm at St. Ann Church, 289 Arch Rd., Avon. Facilitated by John
Roberto, Director and Trainer, Lifelong Faith Associates, this workshop
will provide skills and tools for developing a justice response to social
issue, identifying organizations and resources to use and engaging people in

East Catholic High School: Come visit East
Catholic High School during our Open House, Thursday, November 10, 2011 at
6:45pm. The entrance exam for eighth graders will be given on Saturday,
December 3, 2011 at 8:00am, at East Catholic High School. Pre-registration for

Assumption
School HSA in conjunction with Botticello Farms will be selling mum plants
after all masses this weekend and the weekend of October 1-2. You can also
purchase coupons to pick up your plants directly at Botticello’s Farm. Single
plants are $4.50 or 3 for $12.00.
Your purchase not only benefits the children of Assumption School but
also supports one of the Parishes largest supporters and advertiser, Botticello
farms.
Why not pick up a few plants to bring the color of Fall into and around
your home.

From Our Second Grade, Teacher
Sister
Joan Marie:
We are very excited to be in second grade. We begin each school
day with Religion Class. Each Friday, Sister Joan Marie, takes us to visit
Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
This year we will make our First Penance and First Holy Communion.
On Saturday evening or Sunday mornings we go to Mass with our
Family.
School is fun and we are learning many new things in Reading,
Math, Science and Social Studies.
Sister Joan Marie told us that when our handwriting becomes very
nice we will be able to join her Handwriting Club.
Assumption School
Fall-O-Ween Funfest
Assumption School will be having their
Fall-O–Ween Carnival on October 15, 2011 from 10:00am – 2:00pm, to be
held on the soccer field behind the school. Admission is $5.00. Tickets can be
purchased for food and the bounce house….activities including face painting,
dunk booth, pumpkin painting, crafts and much more are included with admission!
There will be a Costume Parade at 1:00pm…be sure to
bring your camera.

Tag Sale: We will be having our Annual Tag Sale to benefit Assumption School on

starting on Thursday, September 13th from 5:00pm-6:30pm and will

Religious Education News…
Religious Education classes will resume on Monday,
September 19, 2011 for Grades 1-8. Classes for all grades will be from
6:00pm-7:00pm. Grades 1-5 will meet in the school and Grades 6-8 will meet in
the Church Meeting rooms and Library.
Confirmation Classes will start on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from
6:00pm-8:00pm in the Church Hall
