Dear Assumption Parishioners,

Thanks to all who gave up part of last Sunday to attend one of our meetings on the future of Assumption School.  We heard from many with strong opinions – but if you were not able to be present and have something to say I still want to hear from you.

Whether or not you have or have had a child in the school – whether you are new to the parish or an old timer – your opinion is important. This concerns the future and financial stability of both our church and our school.

I must clarify one point: it seems that some people are convinced I intend to close the school – and that is absolutely incorrect. (An erroneous statement in a newspaper article may have contributed to furthering that rumor.)  Closing Assumption School is the last thing I would want to do. Instead, I am looking for options for keeping the school open, working with parish and school groups to make it financially solvent so that it doesn’t endanger the parish.

Several ideas were presented at the meetings, and now there’s a lot of work to be done to determine which are viable alternatives.  I hope that anyone we haven’t heard from who has a comment or suggestion to offer will become part of the discussion, for we need everyone’s involvement and best thinking at this critical juncture in the life of Assumption Parish. Please let me hear from you!
